Actors Guild of Parkersburg announces 2021-2022 season | News, Sports, Jobs

PARKERSBURG – Music, magic and drama will be on stage at the Actors Guild of Parkersburg where the curtain rises for a full season in September.

While the pandemic has limited the Guild to online and less than full shows, everyone in the theater is ready to return to full productions and perform in front of full audiences, according to President David Rexroad.

“We are so happy to return to a full schedule” he said. “Our performers have failed to be on stage, our volunteers have failed to participate and I think people in the community are eager to come back to the theater and enjoy the productions that they have come to know and love at the Actors Guild. “

The 2021-2022 season will open in September with the comedy of the South “The Hallelujah girls.” Located at SPA-DEE-DAH, an abandoned church turned into a day spa, a group of friends meet every Friday afternoon for beauty treatments and gossip. After the loss of a dear friend, women realize that time is precious and if they are to change their lives and achieve their dreams, they have to do it now.

Show hours are at 8 p.m. on September 17, 18, 24 and 25, October 1 and 2, and at 2:30 p.m. on September 26.

The holiday show will be “Elf the Musical” with shows 8:19 p.m., Nov. 20, 26 and 27, Dec. 10 and 11 2:30 p.m. Nov 21 and 28, 4 p.m. Dec 4, 6 p.m. Dec 5 and 7 p.m. Dec. 9

“We’re experimenting with different show times and a Thursday night performance to give people a variety of times to fit that into their schedule. “ Rexroad said. “We think a lot of parents will want to bring their kids to this show and we hope that curtain hours sooner will help make this possible.”

Guild Builders, the organization’s youth program, will perform “The Wizard of Oz” in January and February. Curtain time is at 7 p.m. on January 21 and 28, February 4 and 5. In addition, shows will be presented at 2:30 p.m. on February 22, 23, 29, 30 and 5.

A well-known drama takes the stage in March with “A few good men.” Curtain time is at 8 p.m. on March 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19 with a morning at 2:30 p.m. on March 13.

Comedy returns to the stage with “The producers” in April and May. The cast, who were in rehearsals when the pandemic ended operations last year, are eager to open the show.

Show hours are April 22, 23, 29 and 30 at 8 p.m. and May 6 and 7, a morning at 2:30 p.m. on April 24 and a show at 6 p.m. on May 1.

Airs from the 1960s will be featured in “Shout: The Musical Mod” in June. The show will offer a variety of curtain times at 8 p.m. on June 17, 18, 24 and 25, matinees at 2:30 p.m. on June 19 and 26, and performances at 7 p.m. on June 19 and 26.

The 2021-2022 season will end in August with Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Cinderella.” Curtain time is 8 p.m. on August 5, 6, 12, 13, 19 and 20, 2:30 p.m. on August 7 and 21, and 6 p.m. on August 14.

While season tickets are not on sale this year, tickets for individual shows can be purchased on the Guild’s website at Tickets for some shows are available now and sales for other shows will open in the coming months.

Flex tickets are also available to allow customers to attend four shows at a special rate.
