The Royal Opera of Versailles has announced a MoliÃ¨re Cycle which will be dedicated to the 400th anniversary of the birth of Jean-Baptiste MoliÃ¨re.
MoliÃ¨re was a French playwright, actor and poet, widely regarded as one of the greatest writers of the French language and of world literature. His extant works include comedies, farces, tragicomedies, comedies-ballets, etc.
For the purposes of this article, we’ll only focus on vocal works.
Caroline Weynants, Caroline Bardot, EugÃ©nie Lefebvre, Blandine de Sansal, ClÃ©ment Debieuvre, Vojtech Semerad and Etienne Bazola perform various works by Marc-Antoine Charpentier and MoliÃ¨re. SÃ©bastien DaucÃ© directs the Ensemble Correspondances.

Ana Quintans, Cyril Auvity, Marc Mauillon, Igor Bouin and Virgile Ancely present works by Jean-Baptiste Lully and Marc-Antoine Charpentier. Vincent Dumestre conducts Le PoÃ¨me Harmonique.

Then comes a concert of the opera by Jean-Baptiste Lully “Psyche.Thomas Corneille’s libretto was adapted from MoliÃ¨re’s original play. The opera will feature DÃ©borah Cachet in Aglaure, BÃ©nÃ©dicte Tauran in Venus, EugÃ©nie Lefebvre in Flore et Cidippe, Cyril Auvity in the role of Love, Robert Getchell in Mercury, Vertumne et Vulcain, Nicholas Scott in Apollo, Fabien Hyon in Palemon , SilÃ¨ne, and Bacchus, Philippe EstÃ¨phe in the role of Jupiter, Anas SÃ©guin in Lycas and Momus, Matthieu Heim in Mars, and Ambroisine BrÃ© in the title role. Christophe Rousset conducts Les Talens Lyriques.

Tenor Romain Champion, soprano CÃ©cile Granger, baritone Marc Labonnette and tenor Francisco MaÃ±alich will perform MoliÃ¨re’s ComÃ©die-ballet “The Bourgeois GentlemanÂ»Alongside the soloists of the Ensemble La RÃ©vÃ©rence. Christophe Coin directs a production by Eric Ruf.

The event “MoliÃ¨re and his music“Will see the sopranos Emmanuelle de Negri and Claire Debono, the tenors Zachary Wilder and Cyril Auvity, and the bass Cyril Costanzo perform extracts from” Le Malade imaginaire “,” Le Bourgeois gentilhomme “,” L’Amour doctor “,” Le Mariage forced â, andâ George Dandin â. William Christie conducts Les Arts Florissants.
