Billy, 73, first created the character of Buddy for the late night show Saturday Night Live.

And he told The Times it had been one of his favorite parts in his 50-year career.

“I love this guy,” said Crystal, best known for her 1989 romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally … starring Meg Ryan.

“And there was more to say with this character; there was more to do.

And the Oscar host added that he’s taking on such a massive production at 73 because he enjoys working: “I’ve always tried to challenge myself and keep growing, stretching.”
