According to Globo Esporte (h/t Football.london), Atletico Mineiro are unlikely to sign Chelsea striker Nathan.
The 24-year-old joined Chelsea in 2015. He is yet to make a single appearance for the Blues and has spent his time mostly on loan.
Currently in Brazil with Mineiro since 2018, he has made 35 appearances while scoring four goals. Despite the expiration of his stay, he continues to train with the Brazilian team.
Mineiro can sign the player permanently for 6.5 million euros. If they choose not to, the only options we have now are to lend it elsewhere or reduce our asking price.
Able to play anywhere in midfield, he is a versatile striker who has shown a lot of promise. It’s fair to say that the £3.6m Chelsea spent on him was for naught.
He had four different loan spells at Chelsea. The most promising of the lot came at Vitesse Arnhem in 2015-17. He scored seven goals and three assists in 51 appearances as the Dutch won their only major KNVB Cup honor in 2017.
Nathan has represented his country at Under-17 and Under-20 levels. He made his U17 arc at the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2013. He finished with five goals and won the Silver Ball for his performances.
It’s fair to say that his career since then hasn’t reached the same heights.

At 24, Nathan’s opportunity at Stamford Bridge appears to have passed. He has not reached the required level and will find it difficult to break into the current team.
Chelsea are building a first-class squad that can compete with the best for years to come. Nathan had better resuscitate his career elsewhere.
