BRUCE SABATH SEEKS TEVYE Encore Dates now set for February

Bruce SabathSearching for Tevye’s solo show will have two encore performances at Don’t Tell Mama, February 10 and 11, at 7 p.m. These performances were originally scheduled for mid-January, but had to be canceled due to the surge of Omicron. With cases now down, Bruce is excited to bring his story to theatergoers in February.

Actor Bruce Sabath (Business, Cagney, Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish), who had a previous career on Wall Street and in corporate strategy, created the show to tell how a Brighton theater kid gave up on a burgeoning career to Wall Street to pursue his dream of becoming a Broadway actor. Sabath has been the subject of numerous articles from the Wall Street Journal to Psychology Today to Backstage, all intrigued by her atypical background.

The show features music that has inspired Sabath throughout its journey, from 70s folk rock and American songbooks to musical theater classics, including songs from Sondheim to (of course) Fiddler on the Roof, which has been a guideline of Sabath’s acting. career.

Searching for Tevye had its sold-out New York premiere in November at Don’t Tell Mama, following its world premiere in October at the Hart Theatre-CenterStage in Rochester, New York, Sabath’s hometown.

Stephen Mosher of BroadwayWorld reviewed the New York show saying, “…absolutely one of the most charming shows of this cabaret season… Sabath has the most valuable tool in the cabaret trade : complete and total authenticity… Sabath managed to not only hold my attention but hold my passionate attention… With a voice that fits like a glove, whether it’s Sondheim, Porter, Bricusse or Croce, Sabath remains a pleasure constant throughout his show…”(Read the full review here).

Searching for Tevye is written and performed by Bruce Sabath and led by Tanya Moberleyfeaturing musical director Ben Kiley on piano, with Sabina Torosjan on violin and Steve Earl on bass.
