The Last of Us | The actor confirms his participation in the series in a mysterious role – the Clare People Thu, 07 Oct 2021 14:20:21 +0000
  • Subscribe to Amazon Prime for R $ 9.90 / month and get free shipping, a catalog of movies and series competing with Netflix, books, music and more! Test 10 free days!
  • On the other hand, there are some clues that can help us unravel this mystery. The main point is that Leland is not a big TV and movie star, although he has appeared in several productions over the past few years, such as Friday night lights and Vice. So the bet is that your role won’t be prominent, and maybe not even recurring, appearing in either episode.

Also, the manufacture of The last of us recently picked children to play characters in a school scene and some of the behind-the-scenes footage leaked in recent months showed school buses with plaques from Texas, the area where the game’s story takes place before the infestation of cordyceps. So putting all of these points together and the fact that Americans generally only call their teachers by their last name, it is almost certain that the Mr. Adler Brad Leland will play will be a teacher in this pre-apocalyptic period.

This theory is reinforced by the statement of the actor himself, who said he has already recorded his scenes. He does not specify in his speech whether he has finished his participation or whether there will be more, but the fact is that it is already known that the pilot of the series has already been shot in its entirety and It would make perfect sense if his presence was limited to this initial episode – especially since, through the game, there is no teacher or classroom in the plot after Joel and Ellie meet. .

Apparently, the series will expand the pre-apocalyptic scenes beyond this tragic moment (Image: Reproduction / Sony)

So it is very likely that Leland is the teacher of Sarah, Joel’s daughter, and that he will appear in this initial episode to show what life was like for the protagonist’s family before the end of the world. On the flip side, that also doesn’t rule out the possibility that Adler was a teacher in the quarantine zone already in the post-apocalyptic period.

That way, even if everything indicates that Leland’s involvement The last of us is not too shocking, the confirmation that your character does not exist in the games is a nice reminder that you should not expect such a faithful reproduction of the games not live action. Although the official image has impressed with its excellent characterization, we already have more than one indication that the plot needs to bring new elements.

This does not mean, however, that there is no concern for fidelity to the original work. Keep in mind that Neil Druckmann, the creator of the video game franchise and director of the games, is one of the people responsible for the production and the script, as well as the directing of at least one of the episodes.

The first seasoned The last of us will have 10 episodes, but HBO has not revealed when they are expected to debut.

Council of Regents decision on mask puts Hancher at odds with stakeholder fairness security protocols Wed, 06 Oct 2021 02:34:35 +0000

Following the cancellation of two performances due to COVID-19 concerns, Hancher Executive Director Chuck Swanson shares his plans to mitigate future cancellations while ensuring the safety of cast, crew and public.

The Hancher Auditorium canceled one of their performances last week because the theater, operating under the University of Iowa’s COVID-19 guidelines, was unable to meet the guidelines of the Actors’ Equity Association requiring artists to perform in places requiring a mask.

Hancher Executive Director Chuck Swanson announced on September 23 that performances by the Boston Pops Orchestra and comedian Bill Irwin were canceled due to concerns related to COVID-19.

The Boston Pops Orchestra has canceled its entire Midwest tour due to general concerns over COVID-19. Bill Irwin’s performance, scheduled for Nov. 5, was canceled because the Actors’ Equity Association – a union that represents more than 50,000 actors, managers and crew members in the United States – demands that companies that do not require proof of vaccination must require spectators to wear masks in the performance space at all times.

“We cannot meet the requirements for Actor’s Equity, so the performance has also been canceled,” Swanson said in a video message to the community.

Hancher returned $ 151,017 in reimbursement for Boston Pops and $ 8,342 in full reimbursement for the Bill Irwin show.

“We got the word and then unfortunately had to share the disappointing news with our audience which is difficult,” Swanson said. “We don’t want to disappoint our audience. We’re here to bring people together, but we must follow [the Board of Regents’] advice.”

According to state board of regents guidelines released May 20, “masks may not be required on campuses of public universities in Iowa, except at transportation, research, or health care facilities on. campuses ”.

While Hancher is working on a self-sustaining model, the company still receives university funding and is classified as a university building under the jurisdiction of the regents.

Actors ‘Equity represents individuals, so negotiations for cast and crew are on a case-by-case basis, making it difficult for Hancher to predict which upcoming shows might be affected by regents’ politics, said Swanson.

It is difficult to predict which terms may be negotiable, he added, as the COVID-19 performance conditions are also fairly new for groups like Actors’ Equity.

RELATED: Afrika stage! dance troupe to perform at Hancher

Swanson said, for now he knows the next one Waitress The tour, which has currently generated $ 168,618 in gross sales, will not require members of the public to wear masks. The tour has several behind-the-scenes security requirements, however, which Swanson says can be met.

“I am very optimistic that we will not have to [cancel Waitress], “he said.” There is also, as we all know, uncertainty. I do not know what will happen in a month or two months, with the sciences. I hope we have a successful season. So you know I can’t promise but I’m really optimistic.

Waitress toured with the same production company as another highly anticipated musical, The group’s visit. Swanson said if all goes well with Waitress, The group’s visit will also remain on the program.

Swanson said that to ensure touring operations are run safely, Hancher hires students from the IU College of Public Health to work as infection mitigation coordinators. Swanson said Hancher plans to have students administer COVID-19 tests during the Waitress’ period of racing at the theater.

“It was an opportunity that we had to face and neither of us are excited about, but at the same time, it presents a learning opportunity,” Swanson said. “Hancher’s point of view is that we find ways to connect with students and give students opportunities to learn and really experience real life situations.”

Hancher is also working with UI Legal Services to ensure that all COVID-19 performance conditions are met without breaking the rules set by the regents.

While balancing advice from the Regents and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention can be complicated, Swanson said, between help from the College of Public Health, advice from the UI Legal Services and the work of the staff. de Hancher, he feels optimistic about Hancher’s ability to continue welcoming artists.

“I’m trying to be as positive and optimistic as possible in the face of all of this uncertainty,” he said. “I think that’s the problem with this big, big world, it’s uncertain. Every day is new. But, I’m really proud of the fact that we involve students from our university to really help us, and in return, they are learning. It’s good for all of us. I am looking forward to this season.

Russian actor and director to launch first space film with cosmonaut Mon, 04 Oct 2021 18:31:00 +0000 Veteran Russian cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov, actor Yulia Peresild and film producer Klim Shipenko will visit the International Space Station to Tuesday. Peresild and Shipenko will shoot segments for the film “Challenge”, the first feature film set in space.

The the film will tell the story of a surgeon who must operate on a sick cosmonaut in space because his state of health prevents him from returning to Earth for treatment.

The three space travelers will take off aboard a Soyuz MS-19 spacecraft from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 4:55 a.m. ET on Tuesday. The rapid Soyuz will deliver them to the space station around 8:12 a.m.

The current space station crew, including European Space Agency astronaut Thomas Pesquet, NASA astronauts Mark Vande Hei, Shane Kimbrough and Megan McArthur, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency astronaut Aki Hoshide and Roscosmos cosmonauts Oleg Novitskiy and Pyotr Dubrovnik will all welcome the trio on board when the hatch opens around 9:30 a.m.

Live coverage of these events will be available on NASA TV and website.
“The launch will mark the expansion of commercial space opportunities to include the making of feature films,” according to one NASA exit. The film is being made under a commercial agreement between Roscosmos and Moscow media entities Channel One and studio Yellow, Black and White, the agency said.

This is a short break for new space station visitors Peresild and Shipenko, who will spend 12 days on the space station filming before returning to Earth on October 16. They will be joined on their return trip by Novitskiy.

Shkaplerov will remain on the space station and return to Earth in March with Vande Hei and Dubrovnik on the Soyuz MS-19 spacecraft. When Vande Hei lands after his 355 consecutive days on the space station, he will have completed the longest one-astronaut space flight in US history, according to NASA.

A few films have been shot aboard the space station, including a 2002 IMAX documentary narrated by Tom Cruise. “Apogee of Fear,” a 2012 sci-fi film lasting about eight minutes, was also shot in space by entrepreneur and space tourist Richard Garriott, the son of an astronaut.

But Russia is set to become the first nation to shoot a feature film in space.

Peresild and Shipenko, well known in Russia, were selected after the country’s space agency, Roscosmos, opened a competition for applications in November. Peresild has appeared in a number of Russian films and TV series, while he was one of the highest grossing films in Russia.

The two civilians underwent rigorous training before their space trip. In addition to the liners, the actor and director prepared by performing centrifuge and vibration support tests, weightless training flights, and parachute training, all covered by Channel One.

The crew trained to photograph and film and use equipment they will interact with on the space station.

Other cosmonauts on board, including Novitskiy, will assist and be part of the film crew as their resources are more limited in the space environment. The schedules of the astronauts on the space station are already well choreographed so that they can work on experiments and see to necessary maintenance tasks and other priorities.

The film “is part of a large-scale scientific and educational project, which also includes a series of documentaries to shoot about the companies and specialists in the rocket and space industry involved in the manufacture of launchers, d ‘spacecraft and ground-based space infrastructure. The project will become a clear example of how spaceflight is gradually becoming available not only to professionals, but also to an increasingly wide range of interested persons, “according to Roscosmos.
Tom Cruise and director Doug Liman revealed in 2020 that they were working together on a film to shoot in space, with the cooperation of NASA. The project is developed in collaboration with SpaceX by Elon Musk. Reports have suggested that Cruise’s stay on the space station could also take place in October, but no definitive date for its launch has been shared – although he spoke with the all-civilian crew of SpaceX Inspiration 4 during of their recent trip to space.

Leslie Odom Jr. brings family history to Tony Soprano’s origin story Sun, 03 Oct 2021 22:10:53 +0000

Fans of HBO’s acclaimed crime drama “The Sopranos” have waited over 14 years to learn the origin story of Italian-American mob boss Tony Soprano.

But for actor and singer Leslie Odom Jr., who describes himself as a “card-carrying member” of “The Sopranos” fan club, “The Many Saints of Newark,” which premiered Friday, also expands the universe. from New Jersey. – crime-based family with a black perspective.

“Here David Chase was adding it and also, you know, balancing it out against the Italian-American story he was telling,” Odom said of the writer and producer of “The Sopranos”. “I was just hoping that I could create a portrayal of Harold as psychologically interesting and nuanced as they’ve become accustomed to seeing from these actors from the original series.”

Odom plays Harold McBrayer, who starts off as a number runner for Dickie Moltisanti (played by Alessandro Nivola) – the gangster, uncle and mentor of teenage Tony Soprano (played by Michael Gandolfini, son of actor James Gandolfini who created the role). And he says his character represents one of 6 million blacks who, like his grandfather, moved to major cities in the North and West from rural communities in the South during the Great Migration of the 20th century.

“I saw my grandfather in Harold a lot. And so when I watch the movie I feel like I see pieces of him and glimpses of him, it’s deeply meaningful to me, ”he said.

Leslie Odom Jr. as Harold McBrayer and Alessandro Nivola as Dickie Moltisanti in “The Many Saints of Newark”.Barry Wetcher / Warner Bros.

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Isabel Wilkerson compares the Great Migration in her 2010 book “The Heat of Other Suns” with the movements of refugees who travel great distances to escape oppression.

“People have not gone through the customs turnstiles on Ellis Island. They were already citizens. But where they came from, they weren’t treated as such, ”Wilkerson wrote, referring to the 6 million blacks who emigrated from the South between around 1916 and 1970. “Each of their steps was controlled by the meticulous laws of Jim Crow, a nineteenth century minstrel figure who would become a shortcut for the fiercely enforced codes of the southern caste system.

And Odom connects that larger dark story with his offscreen grandfather and onscreen McBrayer.

“My grandfather comes to New York. Harold moved to New Jersey, ”Odom said. “My grandfather gets a job in a factory and stays there for 30 years, sends his children to university, to nursing school, with this job. And Harold, of course, does something else with his time, earns money in a different way. But the momentum, what drove them south, would have been the same.

A large number of black families took root in the Newark area during the Great Migration, including some families that eventually became stars such as singer Whitney Houston and actor-singer Queen Latifah.

“The Many Saints of Newark”, which plays on the English translation of Tony Soprano’s uncle’s last name – “Moltisanti” translates from Italian to “many saints” – takes place in the 1960s in Newark during riots caused by racial unrest.

On July 14, 1967, the New Jersey State Police and National Guardsmen used armed personnel carriers to engage violently with black rioters in Newark. A rumor that a black cab driver was killed at a police station sparked several days of unrest that ended in 26 dead and more than 700 injured.

The film describes this time in the city as a time when the black and Italian-American communities were “often by their throats.”

Leslie Odom Jr. as Harold McBrayer in “The Many Saints of Newark”.Barry Wetcher / Warner Bros.

For Odom, adding this black story to other American stories, like that of the Soprano family, is a tribute to the long, difficult journey many black families have endured in their pursuit of the American dream.

“I obviously know on a deeply personal level, the sacrifice of generations before me, what my great-grandfather had to do as a sharecropper to create opportunities for my grandfather, who worked in the factory to create opportunities for my father, who was a businessman, to create opportunities for me, who earns my living as an artist, ”he said. “It’s the American dream. And it’s been hard earned and ugly and beautiful and mean and amazing, but it’s ours.

Odom rose to prominence after winning a Tony in 2016 for his outstanding performance as Aaron Burr in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical hit “Hamilton”. And now, having recently co-hosted the 2021 Tony Awards, the actor and singer has said he’s hopeful that as more and more peers return to Broadway stages and to movie sets that have. been shut down by Covid-19, they will continue to push for diversity in the arts.

“When we return to these public spaces, I hope the artists will not abdicate our responsibility to push the boundaries and do our best to tell stories that have never been told before about people who have never been told. never seen their stories told because that’s the power of what we can do, ”he said. “We have the power to make people feel less alone. And it is a power that we must not forget.

Since the show, Schirripa has continued to appear on the television shows “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” and “Blue Bloods”.

Schirripa said the show at Packard is the first they’ve done since COVID-19.

He will be joined by actors Vincent Pastore, who played Salvatore Bonpensiero, and Michael Imperioli, who played Christopher Moltisanti. The event is hosted by comedian Joey Kola.

“If you’ve always wanted to ask the Sopranos for something, now is your chance,” he said.

A book on the show titled “Woke Up This Morning” will also be released on November 2.
