As a member of Chelsea’s highly successful Academy squads from 2012 to 2015, Charly Musonda Jr. looked set for stardom almost as soon as he arrived at the club. He has yet to live up to those expectations, although he showed glimpses of doing so during the half-season loan spell at Spanish club Real Betis at the end of the 2015-16 term. He returned to Betis the following season, but things didn’t work out so well. after being recalled to Chelsea last January, he apparently spent the vast majority of 2017 injured and unavailable to play.
But he has recently returned to full fitness and, crucially, has signed a new long-term contract, which means that instead of sitting idly by on the bench at Chelsea, he can try his luck on loan again.
This time, according to HLN journalist Kristof Terror, Chelsea are keen to keep him in England.
Ideally, Musonda will turn his loan spell into a first-team spot in the near future, joining Thibaut Courtois and Andreas Christensen (and hopefully Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham) to validate the methods. of Chelsea player development. Musonda’s future remains very bright; it only remains for us to help him accomplish it.
