Daniel O’Donnell has asked fans not to send him birthday cards for his 60th birthday but to donate to a charity established in memory of a young woman from Donegal.

Fans were already planning to shower the beloved star with cards and gifts from around the world.
However, a spokesperson for the millionaire artist called on fans to donate to a suicide counseling charity instead.
The spokesperson said: “A lot of people have asked for an address to send Daniel a card or gift for his 60th birthday in December.
“Even though Daniel appreciates the kind gesture, he wants you to know that he doesn’t need anything.
“But if you want, he’d rather you donate the cost of the card or gift to charity.
“And if you’re wondering what her favorite charity would be, it’s called Gemma’s Legacy of Hope.”
Gemma’s Legacy of Hope is an association created to honor the memory of Gemma Boyle who brought joy and happiness to her family and community throughout her life.
After a period of poor mental health, the beloved Burtonport woman committed suicide in February 2020.
Gemma’s Legacy of Hope was set up to help shine a light of hope for people living and working in the community of Donegal.
They are supported to find courage and strength on a path to enhanced happiness and a fulfilling life.
This fundraiser aims to facilitate the support of counseling services in the primary care region of Rosses and Fintown.
