EastEnders star Toby-Alexander Smith’s touching tribute to girlfriend and Emmerdale actress Amy Walsh

EastEnders viewers will be familiar with Gray Atkins playing a nasty piece of work.

With a professional career as a lawyer and good looks, Gray seems like a nice guy to the outside world, but behind closed doors he’s a very dangerous man.

However, offscreen actor Toby-Alexander Smith, who plays Gray on the BBC One soap opera, couldn’t be further from his character and appears to have a heart of gold.

Taking to Instagram this week, he shared a loving tribute to his girlfriend and Emmerdale star Amy Walsh.

The soap star couple have both been at the center of poignant tales, with Toby-Alexander being guilty of a domestic violence conspiracy that saw his character Gray Atkins become a serial killer in EastEnders.

On Emmerdale, Amy’s role as Tracy Metcalfe will experience postpartum depression as she adjusts to life with her newborn daughter Frankie in the coming weeks.

Appearing on Loose Women on Wednesday (June 23), Amy opened up about the storyline with Toby-Alexander taking to her Instagram Story to celebrate his girlfriend for bringing up an important issue.

Sharing a photo of Amy and the Loose Women panel, he wrote: “Not only smashed her interview @loosewomen, but her insanely important story as well!

“Proud of you @AmyWalsh”, followed by a loving heart.

Amy, 34, has been dating Toby-Alexander, 31, since last year and has also admitted that some people have a hard time separating him in his character’s real life.

She revealed to the Loose Women panel, “Yeah, he’s got a little. He’s been very lucky but you have a little. It’s more online than anything.”

“But I always say it’s because you’re so good, you do a good job and that’s all that matters.

“His script was so important in getting people talking and raising awareness, so as long as he’s doing that, his job here is done.”
