Eddie Murphy and Jonah Hill are set to star in an untitled comedy for Netflix. Hill also co-wrote the upcoming film with director Kenya Barris.
Eddie Murphy and Jonah Hill join forces with Netflix for an upcoming comedy film. Murphy and Hill are two comedy veterans with three Oscar nominations between them. Murphy’s performance in Dream girls earned him a nod as a supporting actor in 2007. Five years later, Hill received his first Oscar nomination in the same category for his work in sports drama, Silver ball. His second supporting actor nomination came in 2014 for his role in The wolf of Wall Street.
Murphy and Hill are now teaming up for untitled Netflix comedy with Kenya Barris at the helm, according to THR. Barris already had a pre-existing working relationship with Murphy. He was one of the writers on Murphy’s recent sequel, Coming 2 America, which premiered more than three decades after the original romantic comedy hit theaters. Barris also helped write the upcoming Netflix project, which will be his directorial debut. Hill, who co-wrote 21 rue du saut and its sequel, wrote the screenplay for this new comedy alongside Barris. Barris and Hill are also producing the untitled film.
The film will explore some of the most prevalent issues in American society today, including generational and cultural divisions. Murphy’s character will not share the same opinions as Hill’s character regarding these topics. Even though Murphy’s character will disagree with Hill’s character, the two comic actors have a lot in common. For example, Hill recently discussed how he had to hit the pause button in his acting career for a few years. Murphy also took a six-year hiatus. Maybe the two will bond during their breaks and be energized to do their best to Netflix for this new movie.
