Green Lantern has another chance to live, but this time on the small screen.
It was announced in October 2020 that a Green Lantern Corps the series was enlightened. The series is coming to HBO’s Max from the producer, EW says Greg Berlanti (The King of The CW), showrunner Seth Graham-Smith and Marc Guggenheim handle writing and executive production. In addition to Berlanti, Smith and Guggenheim, other executive producers include Geoff Johns, Sarah Schechter, David Madden and David Katzenberg, with Elizabeth Hunter and Sara Saedi co-executive producers.
The show will feature several members of the Green Lantern Corps, such as Alan Scott (Jeremy Irvine), Guy Gardner (Finn Wittrock), Jessica Cruz and Simon Baz, who are two characters who have not yet been chosen. When Wittrock spoke to EW, he explained that the show was “pretty epic” and “will have something for everyone”.
The actor is visibly excited and has a lot of positive things to say about the show. He says, “It’s really cool how big a sprawling storyline this is. It’s pretty epic. It spans time and space and has something for everyone. It’s not your average superhero story. He also spoke of Guy Gardner’s character in detail and described him as “an imposing mass of masculinity” and “an embodiment of the hyper-patriotism of the 1980s”.
The show will take place through time and space, starting in 1941. The 1980s period of the show will have Guy Gardner from Wittrock works with half-alien characters and fellow Lantern Bree Jarta. Wittrock adds, “He takes a big part of this show. He is one of them. I think it’s an interesting way to [to the story]. It’s not the conventional way, but I think people might see a side of him that they didn’t know.
