INSIDER COLUMN: Reading FC considering loan deal for Tom Mcintyre

Yesterday Reading FC announced their latest signing, Lewis Gibson on loan from Everton.

The 20-year-old’s move to the Royals surprised some fans, who were eagerly waiting to see the academy graduates, and now first-team players Tom McIntyre and Tom Holmes are battling for a place in the team.

Following this, the Reading Chronicle understands that Tom McIntyre and the club are considering potential loan moves for the young defender, with many clubs already presenting themselves as options.

Mcintyre impressed in his twelve league appearances, while also being called up to Scotland under twenty-one set up regularly; including Wednesday afternoon.

Having become a fan favorite in Berkshire, Mcintyre will be an exciting prospect for any club he goes to.

Although the names of the clubs interested in the defender are not yet known, most are considered to be the best teams in Ligue 1.

Although the signing of Lewis Gibson is exciting, it feels like the club is blocking the paths of promising academy players in order to give another club experience for a year.

Mcintyre’s contract expires at the end of this season, so it will be vital for him to impress wherever he finds himself, or he will face the prospect of leaving his boyhood club.

Finally, the transfer of Rodrigo Riquelme has been dragging on for a month now and the Chronicle understands that the deal is about to be completed.

The Spaniard took part in a few first-team training sessions recently and had a meeting on Wednesday morning with manager Veljko Paunovic at the club’s hotel.
