Marvel Studios’ new trailer Thor: Love and Thunder begins with Korg telling children the story of space viking Thor Odinson. Korg explains that after saving the Earth 500 times, Thor trained and went from daddy to god. The trailer shows a very fit Thor reaching for Mjolnir only to find it goes to Jane’s outstretched hand rather than his own.
Jane points out that it’s been three or four years since they’ve had a romantic relationship. Thor corrects her and says, “Eight years, seven months and six days… more or less.
The lengthy trailer also provides our first real look at Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher.
Chris Hemsworth returns to lead the cast as Thor. Russell Crowe is Zeus, Natalie Portman is Jane Foster/Mighty Thor, Tessa Thompson is King Valkyrie and Taika Waititi is Korg. Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) directed.
Thor: Love and Thunder will be released in theaters on July 8, 2022.
Official synopsis from Marvel Studios:
The film finds Thor (Hemsworth) on an unprecedented journey – a search for self-discovery. But his retreat is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Thompson), Korg (Waititi), and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magic hammer, Mjolnir, as Mighty Thor.
Together they embark on a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s revenge and stop him before it’s too late.
