Paula – Andie MacDowell

Paula is Alex’s mother on the show and she suffers from her own internal battles.

She’s an artist showing signs of bipolar disorder and she’s struggling to understand why Alex left her partner.

Paula is played by Andie MacDowell, the real mother of actress Qualley.

The 63-year-old actress has previously appeared in Sex, Lies and Videotape and Four Weddings and a Burial.

Speaking about the on-screen mother-daughter relationship, the actress told TV Insider, “My mother was diagnosed with schizophrenia right after I was born.

“So it was complex, my upbringing, and I had other relationships that involved mental illness that [Margaret] was in the know too. So I have firsthand experience and she knew it, but even my mom it didn’t manifest in exactly the same way [as Paula’s]. “

Yolanda – Tracy Vilar

Yolanda is Alex’s boss on the show and is played by 53-year-old American actress Tracy Vilar.

The star is known for her roles on CBS Partners and The Steve Harvey Show.

She’s on Instagram and she shared the Maid trailer, calling it an “amazing, raw and inspiring series”.

She said she was “excited and proud” to be a part of the cast and then thanked her co-stars.
