Mark Harmon would have a limited role in season 19
NCIS Season 19 will be here before you know it. One question you might have is whether Gibbs will be back in the office with his team. Was Bishop (Emily Wickersham) right? Will Gibbs ever return to NCIS? According to recent reports, Mark Harmon will have a limited presence on the show during Season 19. Here’s what Showbiz Cheat Sheet knows.
Gibbs’ disgrace in “NCIS”
Gibbs is not on very good terms with the NCIS leadership. He entered hot water after beating a suspect for NCIS Season 18, Episode 10 (titled “Watchdog”). Vance isn’t thrilled with him right now because Gibbs could have avoided all of this if he’d just apologized.
Now that Gibbs is suspended indefinitely, he spends a lot of time at home in his basement. One of the first things he did after his suspension was tackle his to-do list. Among her chores were cleaning the chimney, washing clothes, paying for hills, and fixing a loose step.
Unfortunately, Gibbs was done with the list early in the day, so there wasn’t much to do afterwards. His boredom led him to visit his local restaurant, where he bumped into journalist Marcie Warren (Harmon’s wife, Pam Dawber). After some encouragement, Gibbs agreed to tell him his side of the story regarding the man who ran the dogfighting ring. Marcie visits Gibbs later and asks him to help him solve a murder case, but things start to get complicated towards the end of Season 18. The killer might be watching them.
Mark Harmon reportedly made limited appearances in “NCIS”
There is good news and bad news. The good news about NCIS Season 19 is Gibbs will be back. The bad news is that Harmon would have a limited presence this season, according to TV Line.
We won’t see Gibbs interacting with the team as much as in previous episodes. The post says a source told them Harmon would only be present in enough episodes to match “the low single digits.” Additionally, another source says Harmon will only be in “a few” episodes.
Will Gary Cole replace Mark Harmon in “NCIS”?
Variety reports that CBS is in talks to hire actor Gary Cole NCIS for a big role this season. Could Cole possibly replace Harmon? As of this writing, it has not been revealed what Cole’s role will be in the series.
One of Cole’s first roles was in the 1983 TV movie Steel heart. The following year he appeared in the television miniseries Fatal vision. Cole made his film debut in the 1986 film Lucas, in which he played an assistant coach. He joins the cast of Midnight call in 1988. Cole played the role of Jack “Nighthawk” Killian for 61 episodes until 1991. Cole is also known for his roles in american gothic, Kiss the sky, West wing, Kim possible, The good woman, and The good fight.
There’s also the buzz that additional cast members will be added this season. This is hardly a surprise considering the departures of Emily Wickersham as Ellie Bishop and Maria Bello as Jack Sloane.
Looks like there’s gonna be a lot of changes coming NCIS. Will it be the same show that we have known and loved all these years? The change may be good, but we hope the quality stays the same on long-running series. Season 19 should be very interesting.
