Martin Odegaard hints at staying at Arsenal beyond agreed six-month loan

Arsenal completed the signing of Martin Odegaard during the January transfer window on a six-month loan deal and he got his first start on Sunday when the Gunners hosted Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal fans want to sign Odegaard permanently and the Norway international hints he should stay.

Martin Odegaard is an exceptional midfielder and he started on Sunday as no. 10 for Arsenal and he had a good showing as he seemed to combine well with the other young forwards already at the club as they destroyed Leeds United and that prompted some fans to appeal to the club to sign him permanently.

Real Madrid have not allowed Arsenal to include an option to buy Martin Odegaard in the loan deal, but the Gunners may still be able to start negotiations with the Madrid club this summer after it expires. Odegaard has also hinted he will stay at Arsenal by not outright confirming he believes he will be at Real Madrid next season when asked about his future.

“You never know what’s going to happen, but right now my focus is just on doing my best this season and helping the team as much as possible.” Martin Odegaard told TV2.

Martin Odegaard was loaned to Real Sociedad last season and he was supposed to stay there for two years but Real Madrid cut him short to bring him back for this season but he didn’t get many chances though as he thought he would bring him to the North. London. The Gunners are of course hoping giving him minutes could convince him to sign for Arsenal permanently.
