Netflix Housekeeper: What Happened to Danielle? | Television and radio | Show biz & TV

Maid is now on Netflix and the series continues to occupy one of the top 10 spots on the streaming platform. The revealing TV series is based on events that unfortunately happen on a daily basis, starring Margaret Qualley as Alex. In the series, she befriends another mother at the domestic violence shelter – Danielle (Aimee Carrero) – but what happened to her?

What happened to Danielle in Maid?

Maid tells the heartbreaking story of young mother Alex as she tries to breathe new life into her daughter Maddy (Rylea Nevaeh Whittet).

She tried to run away from her emotionally abusive boyfriend Sean (Nick Robinson) and got a job as a housekeeper in order to stay off the streets.

On two separate occasions, she ended up in a shelter for women fleeing domestic violence and befriended a woman named Danielle.

Danielle helped Alex get revenge on prudish owner Regina (Anika Noni Rose), who refused to pay Alex for her work.

She also helped motivate Alex when it came to getting custody of his daughter.

However, when Alex went to share the good news with Danielle, she found her room was empty.

When Alex asked the manager of the shelter Denise (BJ Harrison) where she had been, Denise gave a knowing look.

Just as viewers thought they would never see Danielle again, Alex met her one evening and she looked baffled.

While Alex was overjoyed to see Danielle, the mother tried to deny the fact that she knew Alex and walked away.

This only happened when Alex spotted Danielle with a man, who appears to be her abusive partner.

From there, it unfortunately seems Danielle felt that she had no choice but to return to the family unit.

She certainly didn’t look happy when Alex saw her, but maybe she thought it was better for her son.

Denise had said that Danielle had been to the shelter a number of times, so she might just find her way there in the near future.

Fans took to Reddit to discuss what happened to Danielle as they rooted her as one of the show’s protagonists.

Silverrainn said: “Is anyone else disappointed that we didn’t get a fence for Danielle?

“I know it’s probably more realistic that we didn’t get a shutdown, but I would have loved to see her enter the shelter, as Alex was leaving for the last time.

“I feel like I was left hanging after she pretended not to know Alex. It feels like an open end that would have been easy to tie up, even if it wasn’t a perfectly happy resolution.”

The lack of a fence could be an indication of how women in real-life situations of domestic violence may experience the same movements over and over again.

Leslielove88 added: “It was almost sure it was intentional, often with women in DV situations they are so isolated it is as if they were disappearing. This was also visualized with Alex slipping onto the couch. . “

Sad but hydrated said: “It is particularly poignant that Danielle is initially portrayed as so strong and so possessed – her personality crumbles and we see that she is just as broken as Alex when we start the series.”

Reediculus1 said: “When they talk about the average victim who comes back 7 times… well, Danielle is part of that statistic.”

Meanwhile, blackcatheaddesk concluded: “And then there are those who leave repeatedly but keep coming back. It can go on for decades.”

The series received praise from real victims of domestic violence because it sparked a much needed conversation.

Reviewer website Rotten Tomatoes said: “Maid takes great care of her sensitive subject matter to create a drama that is not always easy to watch, but undeniably powerful, based on an outstanding performance by Margaret Qualley.”
