Olivia Wilde served legal documents live on stage at CinemaCon | Showbiz
LAS VEGAS, April 28 ―When Olivia Wilde received a mysterious envelope onstage in the middle of her presentation to a packed Las Vegas audience, many assumed it was the setting for an elaborate joke.
Instead, she was receiving legal documents from her ex-partner Jason Sudeikis.
“It’s for me, right? Wilde asked, interrupted as she presented footage from her upcoming thriller don’t worry darling during the Warner Bros presentation at CinemaCon, the annual gathering of the movie industry.
“Very mysterious. I’m going to open it now,” she said as she opened an envelope marked “Personal and Confidential” after she was calmly slipped onstage by a stranger.
Glancing at its contents, she asked, “Is this a script? OK I understand. Thank you,” before returning to his description of his upcoming thriller, barely missing a beat.
The envelope was never mentioned again during the presentation, which hinted that someone had tried to slip a new script to the actor-director.
But it emerged on Wednesday that the document contained legal papers relating to two children Wilde has with his former partner Sudeikis, a TV comedy star Ted Lasso.
“Documents have been drawn up to establish jurisdiction over the children of Ms. Wilde and Mr. Sudeikis,” a source close to Sudeikis told AFP on Wednesday.
“Mr. Sudeikis had no prior knowledge of when or where the envelope would have been delivered, as that would depend only on the processing service company involved and he would never tolerate it being served as such an inappropriate way.
Representatives for Wilde did not respond to a request for comment.
