Orlando Bloom will receive a humanitarian award at the LMGI Awards later this month

british actor Orlando Bloom, who, as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, helped shed light on the plight of Ukrainian children forced to evacuate their country amid the ongoing Russian invasion, will receive the Humanitarian Award from the Location Managers Guild International (LMGI) at the 9th edition of the LMGI awards.

Actor Melissa Peterman will host the LMGI Awards ceremony and gala on Saturday, August 27 at 5:00 p.m. at Los Angeles Center Studios, where Bloom will be honored for his exemplary humanitarian commitment to children’s rights around the world.

“LMGI proudly salutes Orlando Bloom in recognition of his incredible work with UNICEF and many other charities where he has consistently gone above and beyond as an active and committed campaigner for real solutions to pressing global issues,” said said the president of LMGI and chairman of the awards committee. John Rakich said in a statement.

Best known for starring in two of the greatest film franchises of all time – the blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean Oscar-winning series and trilogy The Lord of the Rings — Bloom currently directs the Amazon series Carnival Rowand he recently starred in Rod Luriewar drama the outpostwhich was recognized by the National Board of Review as one of the Top 10 Independent Films of 2020. Bloom recently completed production on Ian and Eshom Nelms‘ characteristic red right hand and it is currently in production on David Michodthe new A24 film from Wizards! featuring pete davidson and Naomi Scott.

In addition to his successful acting career, Bloom has been instrumental in many charities and activities that help children around the world. He has been a strong supporter of UNICEF since 2007 and was named a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 2009. He received the Audrey Hepburn Humanitarian Award at the UNICEF Snowflake Ball in 2015 in recognition of his commitment for the rights of children around the world, and he also received the BAFTA Britannia Humanitarian Award 2015.

The LMGI Awards recognize outstanding and creative visual contributions from film, television and advertising professionals around the world. As previously announced, the Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese will receive the prestigious Eva Monley award, while Location Manager John Panzarella (midnight race, LA Confidential, The Italian Job, Vice) will receive this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
