MANILA — Actor Piolo Pascual has made it clear he has no intention of quitting the showbiz industry despite his earlier statement that he wants to retire before he turns 40.
At a press conference for Sun Life Philippines on Saturday, Pascual said it has always been postponed.
“I actually said that before I turned 40. I’m 45 and I was talking to Direk Cathy Garcia, we did a Kumuserye and she just signed with ABS-CBN for a couple of years,” a- he told reporters.
Pascual said what he was feeling at the time could be part of a midlife crisis and burnout.
“I love what I do and being in this business gives me meaning so I guess I was immature, I felt burnt out at the time. You can call it a midlife crisis because you’re too busy,” he said.
He added that it has always been his passion to be in the industry and he will continue to do so for as long as he can.
“And I said to him, ‘Direk, huwag na tayong magsasabi ng retreat kasi parang hindi rin naman natutuloy.’ For me, it’s my passion,” the actor said.
“At this point in my life, I just want to keep doing what I’m doing and that’s something I really enjoy, being in this business, being in front of you and sharing my life,” he added. .
“As long as I feel like I’m needed in this business or there’s something I can contribute and I’ll stay.”
