PSNI arrests two men ‘acting suspiciously’ in Ormeau Road area


Two men were arrested after “acting suspiciously” in the Chemin Ormeau area.

The PSNI received a report of the two men, “one may be in possession of a firearm” on Monday evening January 24 at Haywood Avenue.

The men, aged 27 and 33, are currently in police custody.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police have received a report of two men, one of whom may be in possession of a firearm, acting suspiciously in the Haywood Avenue area, south of Belfast, around 11:20 p.m. on Monday 24 January.

“Officers attended the scene and located two men matching the descriptions given and subsequently arrested both men. The men, aged 27 and 33, are both still in custody assisting officers with their investigations.

“Investigations are ongoing and officers would ask anyone who was in the Haywood Avenue area on Monday evening and who notices suspicious activity to contact police in Musgrave on 101 quoting the reference number 1897 24/01/ 22.
