Roque, Nograles, six other Cabinet members listed as possible bets PDP-Laban Senate – Manila Bulletin

Partido ng Demokratikong Pilipino-Laban (PDP-Laban) has revealed the names of some Cabinet members he plans to include on the party’s senatorial list for the May 2022 national elections.

Melvin Matibag, general secretary of PDP-Laban and member of Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi’s faction, said the party’s initial list of senatorial bets includes

  • Secretary of Transport Arthur Tugade,
  • Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III,
  • Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles,
  • Chief Legal Adviser to the Presidency Salvador Panelo
  • Secretary of Public Works and Roads Mark Villar
  • Land Reform Secretary John Castriciones,
  • Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission Greco Belgica,
  • Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque

He said the party is also considering including Quirino Governor Dax Cua, Information and Communications Technology Secretary Gregorio Honasan II and Representative Lucy Torres-Gomez in their shortlist.

Matibag said the party was considering 20 names of at least potential Senate candidates and was ready to include members from outside the party.

According to Matibag, Torres-Gomez and her husband, Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez, a former actor, have pledged to join the PDP-Laban list.

It can be recalled that the President of the Senate Vicente Sotto III announced that Torres-Gomez would join their senatorial ticket within the Nationalist Peoples’ Coalition (NPC) for the elections of May 2022.

Asked about the veracity of Matibag’s claim regarding Torres-Gomez’s inclusion in the PDP-Laban party list, Sotto said it would be “better to ask Lucy herself”.

“Because during our last conversation she said if she ran she would join our group. I even asked her permission to tell the media, ”Sotto said.

The PDP-Laban has named Senator Christopher “Bong” Go and President Duterte chairman and vice chairman in next year’s polls.

As early as July, Duterte had urged members of his cabinet to run for senators in the next elections.
