Supernatural prequel ‘The Winchesters’ stars

Supernatural may be over now, but its fandom lives on thanks to an upcoming prequel. In the past, the hit TV series has tried and failed to offer spinoffs, but The CW is once again trying to resurrect the charms of the Winchester family. After all, a prequel centered on John and Mary Winchester has been given the green light, and The Winchesters has found its main actors.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Meg Donnelly has been cast as the young Mary Winchester while Drake Rodger will oversee John. These stars will join Jensen Ackles who played Dean Winchester in the original series as the star narrates the prequel.

If you are unfamiliar with The Winchesters, the prequel will be told from Dean’s perspective as he reviews the life and complicated romance of his parents. The untold romance will follow John and Mary before they met and how they came together and ultimately sacrificed everything to save the world.

The CW released brief character descriptions for The Winchesters leads with Mary portrayed as a 19-year-old fighting against the odds. The heroine has “struggled against the forces of darkness for most of her life. After losing a loved one, she plans to leave the family business – until the disappearance of her father and the arrival of the new come John Winchester force him to lead a new team.”

And as for John, the show will follow him after he returns from Vietnam. “Altruistic and lucid, he finds a new mission at home, where traces of his father’s past lead him to a secret organization and an all-new war as a hunter,” reads the blurb.

At this point, there is no defined release window for The Winchesters, but The CW approved production on a tentative episode order. So if you missed Supernatural and his wild family business, this highly anticipated prequel just might satisfy your craving!
