The “Below Deck Down Under” team loved working with Tumi
Chief stew Aesha Scott told Showbiz Cheat Sheet that she was impressed with Mhlongo’s raw talent and savvy. “She’s amazing,” she recalls. “At this point, in six months of experience, you would think she had had years. She’s so naturally capable because she just has common sense. She has initiative, she understands.
Under the bridge below viewers also saw the friendship grow between Mhlongo and deckhand Brittini Burton. Burton said Mhlongo is definitely a close friend today. “It’s so amazing to see our friendship slowly emerge,” she told Showbiz Cheat Sheet. “Because we met on the boat. So we’re really friends and I just talked to him on the phone yesterday. We text like every day and so I have so much gratitude to have this filmed and to see our friendship grow.
“The first time you actually witnessed our friendship was when she came over and hugged me and I loved crying. And I’m so lucky,” she recalled. even said that the other day, it was like she chose who lived together and she’s just like, I’m so glad I chose that you and Tumi lived together. It could have been anyone, right? So we are both very grateful to be roommates and to have been able to have such a loving relationship.
Gabriela Barragan Almost Worked With Tumi On “Below Deck Down Under”
Barragan told Showbiz Cheat Sheet that she almost got cast Under the bridge below. “I met Tumi a few years ago when she was hosting a podcast called Diversity in Yachting“, recalls Barragan. And added that she and Mhlongo would make a great team. “Tumi and I would kill him. Either of us can be a chef or second stew and we would both easily work well together.
Barragan was originally scheduled to replace Magda Ziomek on Under the bridge below. “But I was locked into another contract and I couldn’t go, so they put me on Sailboat under the bridge instead,” she explained. Mhlongo had a good relationship with everyone on the boat, including chef Ryan McKeown. Like yeah, we can have three strong stews or whatever, and then one is a**hole and doesn’t speak to everyone. But you have to have fun in yachting.
