#WhereAre They Series: I quit showbiz because of my back injury, reveals Prem Qaidi actor Harish Kumar | Bollywood

There was a time when actor Harish Kumar was a popular name in Bollywood, having appeared in films such as Prem Qaidi (1991), Coolie No.1 (1995), Hero n ° 1 (1997) and Aunt # 1 (1998). But, the actor has been out of the spotlight for some time now, and the reason, he says, is a back injury that left him bedridden.

“I am in India a lot, sometimes in Chennai, Hyderabad and Mumbai. But why I quit showbiz is a very personal reason, which I don’t like to talk about much, ”Kumar continues.

The 46-year-old goes on to say: “It was a major slip disc, with issues in my L3 and L5. The situation was so bad that I couldn’t even go to the bathroom. I was very careless when it came to me. I was young, and I didn’t even realize when I had this injury, pata hi nahi laga mujhe. But I didn’t want to have the operation. Kabhi Kabhi ho jata hai life mein, aisa samaya aa jata hai.

And Kumar doesn’t blame anyone for the downfall in his career. “Pehle pehle doctor ne do saal ke liye kaam karne ko mana kar diya, uske baad pata hi nahin chala ke kahan kho gaya main”, he admits, but he hastens to say that he does not think of his passed with a bitter feeling because he accepted his fate.

“I am very happy and satisfied with the trip I took. I started when I was a kid and I became the male leader as a teenager, jaisa hota ho woh thik hi hota hai… Shayad mein bahut jaldi bhaag raha tha, isiliye life slow ho gayi ”, he opines .

Kumar entered the industry as a child actor and went on to work in films in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam, sharing screen space with big names such as Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Chiranjeevi, Govinda, Mithun Chakraborty, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Dharmendra and Jeetendra. He is also known to be the first hero of Karisma Kapoor, in Prem Qaidi.

“I have made over 300 films in my career, but I don’t know why people remember me for Prem Qaidi. However, I am truly humbled that I still receive so much love and that people still remember me even when I haven’t played for a long time, ”says Kumar, who was last seen in Aa Gaya Hero in 2017.

During his time away from the cinema, he kept busy working on the scripts, script and dialogues for his projects, which he would like to bring to fruition soon.

“I also did yoga, and I’m glad my family is with me during the tough times,” admits the actor.

Kumar still receives several television offers and has even been approached once to enter the Great leader to house. He explains: “Coming back is important, but I want to direct, I worked on a really big script and I want to make my own movie soon.”
