The professional cast of Strictly Come Dancing has grown in popularity over the years, with must-have dancers like Karen Hauer returning time and time again. Unfortunately, as the seasons go by, some of the cast decide it’s time for them to step down from their roles on the BBC show. So who chose to leave this year and why?
Which professionals have left Strictly Come Dancing?
One of the most notable absences from the show this year will be Janette’s as she brought a lot of energy to the show.
Married to Aljaz Skorjaenc, the couple became famous for confronting each other but also supporting each other.
However, an opportunity presented itself for the professional Cuban dancer this time around that she couldn’t miss.
Earlier this year, It Takes Two host Zoe Ball announced she was stepping down as host for new pastures.
Knowing that Janette wanted to get into the presentation, the producers offered her the role, which forced her to leave the main show.

Discussing her exit from professional programming, Janette became very emotional during an appearance on The One Show.
“I won’t dance. I don’t want to cheer myself up because I woke up a lot today, but it was the hardest part of accepting this incredible honor.
“I won’t be on that legendary Strictly dance floor anymore, but I think it’s the most beautiful and natural progression.
“I am still part of the Strictly family and I will always see my professional colleagues all the time.”
Anton Du Béké
Present on the show since its inception, Anton finally puts an end to his role as a professional dancer.
The pillar took advantage of a stint in the jury last year when Bruno Tonioli was unable to appear due to travel restrictions imposed following the coronavirus pandemic.
With a similar situation this year, the bosses decided to recruit the fan favorite to replace Bruno.
Anton was more than willing to do so and joined Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and Most Mabuse on the panel.
Speaking about his new role, Anton said: “My loves, I can’t tell you how excited I am to step into Bruno’s brogues for the next series of Strictly.
“It’s a dream come true to judge alongside the best and I promise to be nicer to all couples than any of them have ever been to me.”
It has not been confirmed if Anton will return to the dance floor for future series in the series after his new role.
Bruno added: “Anton is Mr. Strictly and if anyone takes my place it must be him. Honestly I wouldn’t have done it otherwise and I’m so excited to see him wag his paddle.”
The launch show Strictly Come Dancing is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
